Direct services to individuals are provided through the eight Job Center offices in Southwest Wisconsin
or on-line through our Virtual Job Center at
www.jobcenter.org . What are "Job Centers?" Job Centers are our version of "one-stop shopping" in the delivery of employment-related services. The offices are open to the general public and offer primarily free services for job-seeker customers. In addition, Wisconsin's JobNet
system, a state-wide job-posting site, is available to help
jobseekers to find a job is offered through the Job Centers and is
accessible both onsite and online.
The Southwest Wisconsin Workforce Development Board is responsible for local design and implementation of the Job Centers.
Where is my local Job Center?
Services available for individuals at your local Southwest Job Center include:
- Job listings and employment referrals
- Information about current employment prospects, current wage levels, and the most recent information available on performance of local training institutions
- Information about different careers and how to get started in them
- Intake and eligibility determination for workforce training and services
- Assessment of individual needs and development of an individual employment plan to address those needs
- Self-service computer access for employment-related internet searches, resume and interview preparation, self-study computerized training in Office97, Windows, small business development and many other topics
- Case management and counseling
- Individual referral for services such as basic education, classroom skills training, on the job training, and customized training
- Supportive services, including child care, and other forms of financial assistance required to participate in and complete training
- Issuance of Individual Training Account vouchers
