Richland County LTE Public Health Clinic Nurse

Richland County is seeking a Limited Term Employee (LTE) Public Health Clinic Nurse to assist Richland County’s Health Officer during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic. This position is organized in the Richland County Health & Human Services Public Health Unit and will be contracted through the Southwest Wisconsin Workforce Development Board (SWWDB).

This part-time position (with flexible work hours/days) will earn $27.00 per hour.

A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin is required. Public Health experience is preferred. A valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation are also required.

Purpose of Position:
This position would assist Richland County’s Health Officer during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic. This position is organized in the Richland County Health & Human Services Public Health Unit.

Essential Duties:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Assists with COVID-19 and Influenza vaccination clinics and related activities.
  • Assists with Emergency Management activities as directed by the Public Health Manager/Local Health Officer following Public Health guidance to support general Public Health services.
  • May be assigned to conduct follow-up with individuals tested for COVID-19.
  • May be assigned to conduct contact tracing as assigned using clear protocols to notify, interview, and advise close contacts to individuals with confirmed or probable COVID-19.
  • Must possess the following knowledge and skills;
    • understanding of patient confidentiality, including the ability to conduct interviews without violating confidentiality (e.g., to those who might overhear their conversations).
    • Understanding of the medical terms and principles of exposure, infection, infectious period, potentially infectious interactions, symptoms of disease, pre-symptomatic and asymptomatic infection.
    • Excellent and sensitive interpersonal, cultural sensitivity, and interviewing skills such that they can build and maintain trust with patients and contacts.
    • Basic skills of crisis counseling, and the ability to confidently refer patients and contacts for further care if needed.
    • Resourcefulness in locating patients and contacts who may be difficult to reach or reluctant to engage in conversation.
    • Understanding of when to refer individuals or situations to medical, social, or supervisory resources.
    • Cultural competency appropriate to the local community.
  • Must be able to participate in a team workplace environment and work well with others.
  • Must perform duties and responsibilities in a professional manner.
  • Must comply with HIPAA regulations and maintain client confidentiality.
  • Must comply with all pertinent policies and procedures of Richland County Health and Human Services.

Minimum Training and Experience:

  • Current License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin.
  • Public Health experience preferred.
  • Considerable ability to communicate effectively both in person and in writing.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and independently set time frames to complete work in a timely manner.
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Word Package.
  • Current WI driver’s license, insurance, and unlimited access to reliable transportation.
